Daphne, a Sheltie mix, was just days away from being taken to the animal shelter because her owner was loosing her home. Since Daphne is a middle aged dog, her chances of being adopted there were not good. Chainfree Bristol volunteers, Jake and Les, contacted Liza about the possibility of having Daphne re-homed. Liza worked with her many contacts in the dog world arranging for Daphne to be adopted by a loving family in Connecticut.
In preparation for her journey, friends of Chainfree Bristol funded having Daphne spayed, brought up-to-date on her vaccinations, and groomed. Peterson Express Transport Service, in business since 2004, was contacted to transport Daphne to her new home up north.
Petterson’s has saved tens of thousands of dogs from high kill animal shelters by making bi-monthly trips from Florida to New England, making countless stops along the way. Thanks to Chainfree Bristol donors who helped fund Daphne’s expenses including: Diane, Diana, Barbara, Jarrett and Pamela!
Get together with your friends, business or civic group and sponsor a dog (we know of many in need)… and we will build a fence! Fencing wire, top rails, concrete, line and terminal posts, and gates cost about $450 for each large backyard enclosure. We make sure the pet is altered and the pet owner is educated about the alternatives to chaining their pets. We will promote your business or organization in this newsletter, on chainfreebristol.org, and in our e-mail blasts.
It’s tax deductible… and win, win, win!
Rodney, an 8 year old St. Bernard/Sheepdog mix, lived chained for eight years. Eden’s mother made her aware of Rodney’s situation. So, this past month Chainfree Bristol built a super large enclosure for Rodney… who now lives CHAIN FREE!
